Green Facility
Here at the Enlightened Way Wellness Center we are keenly aware that the daily choices we make have a profound impact on our environment, ourselves and each other. Our facility is nestled right next to the beautiful Farmington River near Tariffville Gorge, a stunning daily reminder of the importance of deepening our connection to the Earth and her many wonders.
As we began building our business, we made choices based on our passion for being stewards of the Earth. We used sustainable materials whenever possible in construction. For instance, our kitchen cabinets are made of Lyptus wood, a hybrid tree that grows to maturity in 15 years and regenerates itself once it is harvested. The trees are grown on plantations, so no forests are endangered.
We have the ability to regulate temperature from room to room, thus avoiding inefficient use of air conditioning and heating.
The paint in our studio is Zero-VOC (volatile organic compounds), which means fewer chemicals in the air. Our letterhead is printed on recycled paper, and we use 100% recycled paper in our printers. Our appliances are energy-star rated. We have “real” dishes in the cabinets and use cloth napkins in our café. We serve organic, fair trade teas and our soaps and cleaning supplies are environmentally friendly.
In the yoga studio, our props are made from recycled and/or eco-friendly materials as well. We proudly maintain a membership in the Green Yoga Association, vowing our commitment to green yoga practices.
Because we know many toxins can be absorbed through our skin, our all-natural massage oils are organic and wild-crafted. Our towels for herbal wraps are soaked in the purest blends of Ayurvedic teas.
